If you’ve been around might have seen a friendly guy with a beard checking on the place. That’ll be Todd.
Todd is the Hop Scholar mastermind. He hails from Oklahoma, where he joined the marine corp in 1993, earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University, and met his wife, Corey. They came to Texas to start their veterinary careers, and after 7 years of Veterinary Medicine (P.S., together they run RAWC - the veterinarian clinic a few doors down), Todd decided he was ready for a change and somehow convinced Corey to join him in starting the Hop Scholar Ale House.
Hop Scholar Ale House is about good beer, good people, and a relaxed environment.
We promote the many great breweries right in our own back yard, as well as bring in good beers from breweries around the globe.
Our goal is to introduce craft beer to the novice and enjoy it with the already initiated.
Todd spent years passionately evaluating, enjoying, and learning about beer. Some of this education was enjoyed at Southern Star Brewery in Conroe, Texas, where Dave and the guys taught him about brewing.
Todd became frustrated at the lack of availability of craft beer in our neck of the woods out in Spring, Texas, and knew he wasn’t alone in wanting a place closer to home where he could enjoy a quality craft pint. Thus our beloved Hop Scholar Ale House was born, and doors opened in 2014 to a thirsty public. Since then we’ve been busy adding events, a full blown kitchen, and our latest addition - sister whiskey and craft cocktail bar Sabbatical.
